Transport fleets rarely consist of vehicles from a single brand or model year, which means they must service engines with varying technical requirements and quality standards. The Rubia oil range was designed specifically with this diversity in mind. It includes products intended for both older and the latest models, meeting the requirements of most trucks in operation in Europe. The wide range of approvals within the Rubia family allows for the use of a single oil brand across the entire fleet, without compromising compliance with engine manufacturers’ recommendations.
Rubia oils are developed in collaboration with leading manufacturers of truck engines. This collaboration has resulted in OEM approvals granted by brands such as DAF, IVECO, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Scania, and Volvo, as well as select American manufacturers, including Mack.
An OEM approval mark on the oil label indicates that the product has been tested and approved for a specific engine. This confirms that the oil meets and often exceeds the manufacturer’s requirements for protection, durability, and performance.
TotalEnergies’ collaboration with engine manufacturers has been ongoing for many years; it includes both laboratory research and in-service testing. Some of the results are publicly available.
The Rubia range features two main product lines. Rubia TIR was developed for older trucks and has been a proven choice for fleets with a mixed vehicle fleet for years. Rubia Optima, on the other hand, is a newer line designed for the latest engines, but in most cases versatile enough to be used in older models as well. As a result, it often simplifies oil management across the entire fleet.
Rubia Optima 4100 XFE 5W-30 is a Low-SAPS synthetic engine oil designed for modern diesel engines in heavy-duty trucks. When used in state-of-the-art, specialized engines, this product significantly reduces fuel consumption. The oil meets the requirements of the API FA-4 standard and has received approvals from manufacturers such as Volvo VDS-5, Renault Trucks RLD-5, Mack EO-S 5, and DTFR 15C130. Thanks to Inno-Boost technology, the oil oxidizes to a very limited extent, maintains stable viscosity, and supports long-lasting engine protection and cleanliness. Its formulation helps reduce fuel consumption, protects the exhaust aftertreatment system - including the DPF - and allows for maximum mileage between oil changes. Rubia Optima 4100 XFE 5W-30 meets the needs of modern transport fleets that prioritize operational efficiency, reduced operating costs, optimized fuel consumption, and compliance with OEM requirements.
The total number of OEM approvals for Rubia oils exceeds 200, meaning that a lubricant meeting the engine manufacturer’s requirements is available for nearly every truck in European fleets. This provides significant support for transportation companies seeking to simplify their oil management while maintaining full compliance with technical recommendations and ensuring operational safety.
