New Rubia Optima range for modern engines
TotalEnergies is launching its state-of-the-art Rubia Optima range of truck oils. In terms of technical and quality performance, this is a completely new level in the market, confirmed by the latest specifications: API: CK-4, ACEA: E8 and E11 as well as a number of the latest builder approvals from MERCEDES-BENZ, VOLVO, RENAULT TRUCKS, CUMMINS, SCANIA, MAN.
New API specifications: CK-4, ACEA: E8 and E11 significantly tighten the quality requirements for engine oils.
API: CK-4 is the latest standard that significantly tightens the quality requirements, compared to its predecessor CJ-4. Oxidation resistance improved by 100%, viscosity loss due to oil shear and aeration issues have been resolved. The requirements for protection against catalytic converter “poisoning”, DPF blockage, engine wear, piston deposits and oil viscosity increase related to increased soot - better dispersion - have been increased.
ACEA: E8 and E11 are tightened quality specifications issued in 2022, to ACEA E6 and E9 respectively. The new specifications significantly increase the oil oxidation requirements in line with API CK-4, but also raise the requirements for anti-wear properties of bushings and rings (new engine test - MACK T12). In addition, the requirements for piston cleanliness, ring baking and sludge in engines when using fuel with increased amounts of biocomponents, which are required in Europe, have been tightened (new engine test - MERCEDES-BENZ). Added test for oil resistance to aeration (new engine test - CATTERPILAR).
To meet these requirements, the Rubia Optima product range uses advanced Inno-Boost Technology. Additives containing the right combination of antioxidants are used in the oil formulation. These active molecules inhibit the formation of oxidation radicals and keep the hydrocarbon chains intact. As a result, the viscosity of the engine oil remains stable and maintains the properties of the oil over a longer period. This has a significant effect on engine life, power, cleanliness, fuel consumption and exhaust aftertreatment system protection.
Rubia Optima range
This is an ultra-modern synthetic engine oil. Low-SAPS oil with reduced HTHS=2.6* for improved engine efficiency and a significant impact on fuel economy. Oil dedicated to the latest engines - MAN D13 and SCANIA DC13. The product is not backward compatible with older homologations and engines.

This is an ultra-modern synthetic engine oil. Low-SAPS oil with a reduced HTHS >2,9 a for improved engine efficiency and a significant impact on fuel economy. Oil dedicated to the latest special engines of MERCEDES-BENZ, VOLVO, RENAULT TRUCKS and MACK. The product is not backward compatible with older homologations and engines.

*HTHS – (High Temp High Shear) is a measure of dynamic viscosity at 150°C at very high rpm. It measures the shear resistance of oil films. The lower the HTHS, the lower the resistance. This translates into higher engine efficiency and lower fuel consumption. However, a lower HTHS also means a “thinner” dynamic oil film. Therefore, the engine by its design (fits, oil pump, roller tappets, etc.) must be adjusted to a low HTHS. The oil must be enriched with additional surface-active anti-wear additives. Low HTHS oils are not backward compatible with older approvals and engines.
Fully synthetic low-SAPS oil, dedicated to diesel and gas engines. Meets the requirements of the latest API standard: CK-4 and ACEA: E8 and E11. The new product meets the OEM's stringent requirements for maximum oil drain intervals in accordance with maintenance manuals. RUBIA OPTIMA 3500 FE 5W-30 oil is particularly recommended for the latest Euro IV to VI and VId engines. Rubia Tir truck range
Rubia Tir is a well-known range of products for trucks. In terms of technical and quality parameters, it is a range designed for engines complying with the EURO I, II, III, IV and V emission standards, provided that exhaust gas after-treatment systems do not use DPF filters. This range is very well-known and appreciated by professionals for its quality and the possibility of using it for a very long time between oil changes.
This is a synthetic, fuel-efficient oil recommended for EURO 5 and older engines with approvals from most manufacturers. Thanks to the FUEL ECONOMY technology, it reduces fuel consumption by 1% compared to an oil with a viscosity of xW-40. In combination with a gear oil from the FE range - the average fuel saving reaches more than 3%, which on average means 1L/ 100km. The excellent detergency, antioxidant and anticorrosive additives contained in RUBIA TIR 9200 FE 5W-30 allow the oil to achieve extended drain intervals specified by manufacturers such as IVECO, MAN, SCANIA and MERCEDES-BENZ and reduce operating costs.
